How this composition might be put to use...

We understand that this touching music is adapted from a traditional Chinese folk song that has apparently been pass on through generations. Assuming we can secure permission to incorporate this composition into our story, it will be used to compliment the scenes where Mai Lee first encounters Ling Ling in the forest.

PROPOSED SYNOPSIS:
As Mai Lee makes her way through the woods, she begins to notice movement from the corner of her eyes, and... she becomes frightened. The forest can be a forbidding place for a young girl to be all by herself... you know? Even at mid-day.

But in each case (upon closer examination) she discovers the beauty of the woods in its assorted wildlife, so each potentially fearful encounter is resolved when she is able to identify the animals, the birds, and the beautiful butterflies that she encounters along the path.

It's then that she meets up with Ling Ling, a cute little cuddly panda bear. It seems odd to see such a youngster all by himself, all alone in the woods, and she becomes concerned about the little fellow. Her youthful curiousity allows Ling Ling to lead her to an opening in the wooded canopy where she sees Ling Ling's mother. His mother is still as she lays on the ground. Mei Lee can see that her foot is caught in a trap, and in moments it becomes obvious that Ling Ling's mother spent a long painful night trying to free herself... before finally dying of exhaustion.

Now it's clear why the little Panda bear is so sad... he's lost his mother, and has no one left to look after him. Mai Lee sits down to comfort the little orphaned bear... and in doing so she sets the stage to become little Ling Ling's surrogate mother. This is how the two of them become lifelong friends.

After a long and arduous search, we found that this piece of music really helps set the tone of the story that follows. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
